RPS gets it’s ‘just desserts’

Christmas gift packaging developed by RPS for family-owned fine food specialist, The Scullery, has been highly commended in ‘The Best Confectionary Product of the Show’ category at SHOP 2008, Ireland’s largest retail, food and drink exhibition.

This festive packaging, produced for The Scullery’s award winning Christmas puddings, comprises a sleeve, carton and composite tube featuring a design that embodies the company’s traditional Irish family recipe with indulgent colours and script-type fonts, framing a black and white image of a young 1950’s cook.

The printing of the packaging proved quite a challenge for RPS, which involved not only different manufacturing processes and substrates but required the sleeves and cartons to be printed in the UK, whereas short lead times effected the decision to print the tubes in Italy; all this whilst maintaining a consistent smooth matt print finish, a fundamental characteristic of the overall design.

Keith Graham, founder of RPS said: ‘This has been a really exciting project for the company, and shows how versatile we can be in terms of producing a design and managing print across diverse pack formats. Because we understand different production processes, we can offer our clients a creative and total packaging solution’.

RPS completed The Scullery’s packaging needs with a selection of self-adhesive labels for its range of delectable sauces and chutneys, all in keeping with the original SHOP 2008 commended design.
